U.S. President Donald Trump has pardoned several names from a long list of his political allies, due to their support or involvement in alleged plans to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, according to a statement by Ed Martin, a Justice Department lawyer in charge of pardons, reports CNN.

In the proclamation published by Martin on the X platform late Sunday, the names of numerous prominent figures were listed, including Trump’s attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, as well as dozens of others, reports Danas.

“This proclamation ends a grave national injustice committed against the American people following the 2020 presidential election and continues the process of national reconciliation,” the document states, dated November 7 and apparently bearing the president’s signature.

The proclamation includes a “full, complete, and unconditional pardon” for all those listed, including some of the president’s co-defendants who were charged in Georgia for attempting to overturn Trump’s 2020 election loss, CNN reports.

Presidential pardons apply exclusively to federal charges, not to state or local ones. The pardon also explicitly states that it does not apply to President Trump himself.

CNN has requested comments from the White House and Ed Martin’s office.

Also, last week, the president approved a pardon for a retired New York police officer who was convicted in 2023 for stalking a New Jersey family on behalf of the Chinese government.

Trump also pardoned former MLB baseball star Darryl Strawberry for a 1995 tax evasion charge.
