U.S. President Joe Biden turned 82 today, becoming the oldest current president in U.S. history. Biden did not have any public engagements today, according to Reuters.
He returned on Tuesday evening from a trip to South America, where he also participated in the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. There, he was filmed ignoring reporters who wished him a happy birthday and tried to get any comment from him.
Family, friends, and colleagues, including First Lady Jill Biden and former U.S. President Barack Obama, congratulated Biden on his birthday via social media.
“Happy birthday to my dear friend and our incredible President Joe Biden,” Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris posted on the platform X.

Biden withdrew from the presidential race in July 2024, partly due to voters’ belief that he was too old for the job, as well as concerns about his mental abilities after a poor performance in a debate with Republican challenger Donald Trump in June.
Trump (78), who defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the November 5 election, will surpass Biden’s record during his second term, as he will be 82 years and seven months old at the time of the next presidential transition in 2029.
