A police officer from the Futog Police Station has been suspended after detaining one of the men who caused an incident last Friday in Futog, throwing yellow paint at members of the group Beogradski Sindikat while they were performing for citizens. This was confirmed to Danas from multiple sources within the Novi Sad police.
It is understood that the officer was suspended on the initiative of the new head of the Novi Sad Police Department, Nevenko Marić, after a video of the detention was posted on social media.
The officer was suspended because one of the citizens, who caught up with the man who caused the incident, hit the assailant while the officer was detaining him.
The Sector for Internal Control suspended the police officer on the same day the incident occurred.

Although the video shows the officer intervening alone, alongside about ten men who knocked the detained individual to the ground, this was not considered a mitigating circumstance for him.
According to Danas’s information, the Internal Control even contacted the prosecutor’s office in Novi Sad regarding the qualification of a potential criminal offense committed by the police officer, but the duty prosecutor stated that there were no elements of a criminal offense.
The incident in Futog occurred on Friday, May 30, during a performance by Beogradski Sindikat.
While the group was performing, several men threw yellow paint at the band, which led to a physical confrontation between the gathered citizens and the men who caused the incident.
At that moment, two police officers intervened and detained two men.
