While the eyes of the tennis world are fixed on the singles draw, Novak Djokovic has caused a real stir in the doubles competition.
In tandem with his great rival, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Djokovic staged a first-class surprise by eliminating the defending champions, Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic, with a convincing score of 6:3, 6:2.
Although they have met as many as 14 times throughout their singles careers, the Serb and the Greek, as wildcard recipients, showed incredible chemistry. In just 53 minutes of play, they “dismantled” the third seeds, controlling the match with an ironclad serve – winning an amazing 89 percent of points on their first serve and saving all four break points. In the next round, they face another clash against singles players, the French pair Rinderknech–Vacherot.

After the doubles magic, Novak returned to his primary duties where the path to the round of 16 of the Masters was not simple at all. He defeated the American of Serbian origin, Aleksandar Kovacevic, after a great battle in three sets – 6:4, 1:6, 6:4.
The match was marked by an incomprehensible drop in the second set, but in the decisive part of the game, Djokovic again found his recognizable composure and secured passage. His next opponent will be the winner of the duel between Cerundolo and Draper, and a victory in that match would mean a definitive return to the very final stages of the tournament that Novak has won a record five times.
