Adriana Vilagoš failed to win a medal at the World Championship in Tokyo. In the javelin throw final, she was eighth with a throw of 61.29 meters.
The Serbian representative entered the final as one of the favorites. However, nothing went as she had planned.
The first two throws were very bad at 52.93 and 57.81. She was on the verge of elimination, but a throw of 60 meters kept her in the game in seventh place.
We hoped that something would change later, but it just didn’t work. The best throw of 61.29 was enough for eighth place.
If she had repeated her qualifying performance of 66.06, she would have been the world champion. However, the European vice-champion failed to do that when it was most important.
The gold was surprisingly won by Angulo from Ecuador with 65.12 meters. Mackenzie Little from Australia was second with 63.58, while Sietina from Latvia got the bronze with 63.38.
