The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo has changed the “security measures for products from Serbia”, so that this measure will be replaced by detailed control, but only through Merdare, while the ban on the import of Serbian goods will remain in force at other crossings, Koha reported today.
With the new decision, which Minister of Internal Affairs Dželjalj Svečlja forwarded to the competent institutions on Monday, the ban on the import of these products will be replaced by “detailed control” of products entering from Serbia.
The change in security measures applies only to the crossing in Merdare, while the ban on Serbian goods remains in force at other crossings.
Germany has threatened Kosovo that it will not participate in the Berlin Process summit on October 14 if it does not lift the ban on imports from Serbia. German envoy for the Western Balkans Manuel Sarrazin said that this ban also blocks the work of CEFTA.

Kosovo suspended imports from Serbia after the arrest of three Kosovo policemen by Serbian forces last year, tensions in the north at that time, and claims that weapons were being smuggled through goods.
The security measure was then changed by allowing the import of raw materials and semi-finished products necessary for final production.
