The tragic event in Aruba has shaken not only the local community, but also Chicago, where the married couple Boris Jozić and Kristina Jozić lived and worked for years. Police in Aruba are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the spouses, who were found dead on January 4 during a New Year’s vacation at a luxury hotel.
According to information available so far, the case is suspected to be a murder-suicide, although the official motive has not yet been confirmed.
Investigators state that Boris Jozić, for reasons currently unknown, allegedly killed his wife Kristina in their hotel room and then jumped from the top floor of the building. After the man’s body was found in front of the hotel, police entered the room where they found Kristina without signs of life. Doctors could only pronounce death, and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
Kristina Jozić was the mother of five children, a grandmother, and highly respected in the community. Together with her husband, she owned a gym in Chicago, and friends and clients remember her as a person dedicated to health, fitness, and helping others. Many people are saying goodbye to Kristina on social media, sharing memories and messages of grief.
The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the funeral and memorial service. An emotional message states that the family’s hearts are broken and that they are facing significant, unexpected expenses. The campaign was started by Vera Jovanović, Kristina’s sister-in-law, while the beneficiary is her daughter Trisha Gatia.
Boris Jozić was an American citizen originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while Kristina was originally from the Philippines. The investigation is ongoing, and the family is asking for privacy as they try to cope with the unimaginable loss.
