Police have identified the bodies of 16 more victims of a fire that broke out in a bar at the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana.
The youngest identified victim was a fourteen-year-old girl from Switzerland, while a total of nine of those killed were under the age of 18. Among the victims are nationals of Switzerland, Italy, Romania, Turkey, and France, police said, as reported by the BBC.
This brings the total number of identified victims in this fire to 24 people, according to an official statement by the competent authorities. On Saturday, eight Swiss nationals were identified.
According to the preliminary investigation, the likely cause of the fire during the New Year’s celebration at the “Le Constellation” bar were sparklers attached to bottles, which were held too close to the ceiling.
