Montenegro today submitted a request to Serbia for the extradition of Alija Balijagić, who is suspected of the double murder of brother and sister Madžgalj in the village of Sokolac near Bijelo Polje on October 25th.
The request for the extradition of Alija Balijagić, with all accompanying documentation, was electronically sent to the Ministry of Justice of Serbia by the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro.
“The extradition of the aforementioned person is requested for the purpose of conducting a criminal proceeding pursuant to the order for the conduct of an investigation by the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje for the criminal offense of aggravated murder under Article 144 paragraph 1 items 1 and 8 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro in conjunction with the criminal offense of unlawful possession and carrying of weapons and explosives under Article 403 paragraph 3 in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro,” the statement of the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro reads.

Balijagić was arrested yesterday at dawn by members of the Serbian SAJ after a 26-day manhunt in both countries.
Balijagić was arrested thanks to a tip from a hunter.
The Minister of the Interior and Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, said that Alija Balijagić, who had been sought for more than 25 days, had been detained and would be prosecuted in Serbia for illegally crossing the state border and possessing illegal weapons.
