Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, against whom the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (JTOK) today filed an indictment proposal in the “General Staff” case, stated that he “looks forward to the trial, because it will mark the end of the blockaders.”

Appearing on TV Informer, he accused the JTOK of being part of an organized criminal group, which allegedly includes certain media outlets and an unnamed part of the opposition, stating that “the real target is President Aleksandar Vučić, who is the main threat to them.”

“I sincerely welcome this that has been done, but I am sure that this will mark the end of the organized criminal group around the rogue (JTOK) and prosecutor Mladen Nenadić who is at its helm. Finally, it will be seen who was tearing down the state because this will be a trial precisely of those people who wanted to change the government without elections and through violence and according to orders coming from outside… They are aiming at me, but they are shooting at the president,” the minister stated.

According to him, some media outlets received the indictment proposal against him, although neither Selaković himself nor his lawyer received it today.

“A part of the opposition also plays a significant role in all of this. Everything is happening between Nenadić, tycoon media, and a part of the opposition… They started doing this in an organized manner years before November 1, 2024. This elaborate machinery of the tycoon Dragan Šolak has been working for years to collapse the system,” Selaković believes.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime today filed an indictment proposal against Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Slavica Jelača, acting director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Goran Vasić, and acting director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade Aleksandar Ivanović in connection with illegalities during the abolition of the cultural property status of the “General Staff” buildings.

The suspects are charged with having committed two criminal offenses: abuse of official position from Article 359 paragraph 1 and falsification of an official document from Article 357 paragraph 2 in connection with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (CC).

“The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime continues to undertake actions in order to determine whether the actions of some other persons also fulfill the characteristics of a criminal offense,” the Prosecutor’s Office announced.
