At least 21 people were killed and over 175 wounded today near a humanitarian aid distribution point in the Gaza Strip, where aid delivered by Israel was being disbursed, according to Gaza’s health authorities.
Witnesses reported that Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinian refugees at a roundabout approximately one kilometer from the aid distribution site, in an area controlled by Israeli forces. Eyewitnesses stated that Israeli soldiers fired upon these individuals as they moved toward the aid distribution point.
The Israeli army has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
The distribution of aid by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation was chaotic, with several witnesses stating that Israeli troops shot at a large group of people near the distribution site. The Foundation noted that private security guarding the location did not use weapons.

Conflicting Reports and Aid Distribution Challenges
The Foundation had previously stated that 16 trucks of aid were distributed today “without incident.” It rejected what it termed “false reporting about fatalities, mass injuries, and chaos.”
Israel and the United States claim that the new system aims to prevent Hamas from “stealing aid.” However, Israel has provided no evidence of this, and the UN denies that it has occurred.
UN agencies and major humanitarian groups have refused to work with the new system, stating that it violates humanitarian principles by allowing Israel to control who receives aid and forcing people to move to distribution points, risking even more massive displacement within the territory.
The UN system has struggled to deliver aid after Israel slightly eased its complete blockade of the territory last month. These groups state that Israeli restrictions, a breakdown of law and order, and widespread looting make it extremely difficult to deliver aid to an estimated two million Palestinians in Gaza.
Experts have warned that Gaza faces famine if more aid is not brought in.
