The students who are running to Brussels, and who set off from Ulm this morning, have arrived in Stuttgart. They were welcomed by our people from the diaspora as well as German citizens living in that city.

Another red ribbon and another goal achieved. The ultramarathon students have also “conquered” Stuttgart.

At the welcoming ceremony, they were presented with awards, and student Darko received a surprise birthday gift. Darko turned 23 today.

“I never imagined in my dreams that I would celebrate my birthday in this way. Today was incredible,” a visibly surprised Darko told N1.

The other marathon runners also did not hide their happiness.

“Today was ideal weather for running. The atmosphere here is phenomenal. Our Marko injured his leg, but he is our hero,” said one of the marathon runners.

“I would like to thank everyone, and I want to call for a blockade of Aranđelovac, the entire city,” said one of the students running to Brussels.

The celebration began when Dule, one of the marathon runners who ran today, took out his violin and played the song “Tamo daleko”.

They sprayed each other, as they say, with “water of freedom”, while jumping with their hosts to the chant “who doesn’t jump is a ćaci”.

However, they still have a long way to go to freedom. They ran from Ulm to Stuttgart today, and should arrive in Brussels on May 12th.

“I have been living here for two and a half years. I came to support my brothers and sisters, all those who are fighting against the regime that drove us out of our country,” a young man told us.

“I have been here for 55 years, I have gone through all the demonstrations from communism, socialism, and now in democracy. And I hope this will be my last. I have great hope that the students will bring changes to Serbia. The only thing I would tell them is that when they achieve that victory, they should encourage the children here to return to Serbia. There are already third and fourth generations here. Let them be able to return to Serbia, something my generation did not succeed in,” a 74-year-old woman told us.
