According to the latest investigation findings, Dane Koteski (46), a transportation company owner from a Chicago suburb, who was found dead three days ago in the premises of a burned building housing his company, was murdered before the fire was set.
According to police reports, Koteski, who was originally from Macedonia, was found with a deep cut on his neck, definitively ruling out the possibility of an incident or accident.
The suspect in this case is a company driver, who was found by police the same day after a pursuit and is currently in custody in Michigan.
Investigators say they quickly identified the suspect, who was arrested at a truck stop in Holland, Michigan, about 240 miles from the crime scene. Prosecutors are expected to file charges upon his return to Illinois.
Shortly after 4 PM on Wednesday, police and firefighters from the town of Crestwood responded to a call regarding heavy smoke at ATG Truckload company. At the scene, they found the deceased business owner, 48-year-old Dane Koteski, who was listed as the president and CEO on the transportation company’s website.
Crestwood firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and the man’s body was found on the second floor of the building, amidst thick smoke.
Following the tragic murder of Dane Koteski on March 5th, a humanitarian campaign was launched to help his family.
The goal is to raise money to care for his 13-year-old son, Kiko Koteski, as well as to cover living expenses for his mother and sister in Macedonia.
Anyone who wishes to help can donate funds through the GoFundMe platform, and any assistance will be of great significance to the family during these difficult times.
