On the occasion of the Krsna Slava of the Karađorđević Royal Family – Saint Andrew the First-Called, a Holy Hierarchical Liturgy was served in the Palace Chapel in Dedinje, presided over by His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije.

The ceremonial service was attended by members of the Royal Family, led by Crown Prince Alexander II and Hereditary Prince Filip. The Holy Liturgy and the blessing of the slava bread were also attended by the highest representatives of all religious communities in Serbia, numerous bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as members of the Crown Council.

On that occasion, Hereditary Prince Filip delivered a message which, in addition to its family character, carried a strong social and moral significance, emphasizing that for the House of Karađorđević the Krsna Slava is not merely a tradition, but a covenant of responsibility and service.

“On the day of the Krsna Slava of our house, Saint Andrew the First-Called, we gather around a covenant that belongs not only to one family, but to the memory of an entire nation. Saint Andrew, the first among the called, is a testimony of faith that is not proven by words, but by quiet and steadfast service,” Hereditary Prince Filip emphasized.

He recalled that throughout the history of the Serbian people and the Royal House, it was precisely this covenant that served as a pillar in the most difficult times.

“For our house, the Krsna Slava is not just a family custom, but a pledge that responsibility is accepted before privilege, and duty before power. This covenant, grounded in faith and patience, accompanied our history in times of trial and obliges us today as well,” he stressed.

In his message, Hereditary Prince Filip also pointed to the broader significance of Christian values for society as a whole, emphasizing that stability and trust are not built on strength and imposition, but on service and perseverance.

“Saint Andrew teaches us that the true path does not begin with noise, but with a readiness to serve others and to remain upright when it is most difficult. On such foundations, unity, trust, and the durability of a state can be built,” the Hereditary Prince said.

He concluded that the feast of the Krsna Slava should serve as a reminder of the essence of tradition and faith.

“May today’s feast be a reminder that tradition is preserved not by words, but by deeds, and that service to others is the highest expression of belonging and faith,” Hereditary Prince Filip said.

The Holy Liturgy was also attended by Princess Katherine, Princess Danica, Prince Stefan, Princess Maria, Prince Alexander, Princess Vesna, Prince Mihailo, Princess Ljubica, Princess Natalija, and Princess Isidora, once again confirming the unity of the Royal Family in marking this significant spiritual day.
