Dušan Alimpijević had a successful start as head coach of the Serbian national basketball team, which was recognized and praised by Denver center Nikola Jokić.
Jokić once again shone in the NBA, scoring 24 points, along with 13 assists and eight rebounds, in Denver’s 135-120 victory over Indiana.
Jokić, like other NBA players, was not available to play for Serbia during the previous World Cup qualifying window, but Serbia still recorded two wins without them.
The first victory came against Switzerland at Pionir, while the second was in Sarajevo against the Bosnia and Herzegovina team.
After the game, Jokić said he had watched both matches and was extremely happy with the wins.
“Of course I watched. Congratulations to the guys, and I’m grateful to them for stepping up, fighting, and winning in the end. I also congratulate the coach on his first two victories on the bench,” Jokić said.
