U.S. President Donald Trump warned that the United States (U.S.) will “blow up the entire” Iranian gas field if Tehran attacks Qatar again, and added that Israel carried out strikes on Iran’s South Pars gas field without informing the U.S.
Trump last night on Truth Social warned that he would target Iran’s South Pars natural gas field after Iranian missiles struck Qatar.
The Iranian attack was retaliation for yesterday’s Israeli strike on South Pars, an industrial zone that hosts the world’s largest liquefied natural gas processing facility.
Trump stated that the U.S. “knew nothing” about the attack, although yesterday a person familiar with the situation said that Washington had been informed of Israel’s plans.
Trump said that Qatar was in no way involved in the Israeli strikes.
“Unfortunately, Iran did not know that and unjustifiably and unfairly attacked Qatar,” the U.S. president added.
“I do not want to approve that level of violence and destruction because of the long-term implications it would have on Iran’s future,” Trump said, but warned that he “would not hesitate to do so” if Qatari liquefied natural gas fields were targeted again.
