The former coach of the Serbian national team, Igor Kokoškov, could soon return to the Euroleague.

More precisely, Kokoškov would return to Turkey, but not to Fenerbahçe, which he coached in the 2020/21 season. Instead, it is announced that he should take over the Efes team.

Although the Istanbul team was close to qualifying for the Euroleague Final Four tournament this season, Luka Bianchi will no longer be the coach of this team, according to Italian media.

They recall that Kokoškov was previously seen as the Italian’s successor, and that club officials have now definitively decided that the Serb will be the new coach.

The two-time Euroleague winner finished sixth in the competition this season, and in the fight for the final tournament, after a great battle, they were eliminated by Panathinaikos with a 75:67 loss in the decisive fifth game.

As for Kokoškov, he began his coaching career at KK Beograd, worked with Partizan’s youth categories, and has significant experience in the USA. He was an assistant coach for several teams, most recently Atlanta.

He also served as head coach for the Phoenix team in the 2018/19 season, after which he became the coach of Serbia.

He achieved his greatest success with the Slovenian national team, with whom he won the European Championship as coach in 2017.
