The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, reacted to the news of the withdrawal of Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, from the General Staff project.
Following the news that Jared Kushner withdrew from the planned project for the construction of a Trump hotel in Belgrade, after the project caused protests and an indictment against the Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, the President of Serbia also commented on the matter.
“I am proud of all those who tried to bring in such an investor. With the campaign and witch-hunt that was waged, we managed to destroy everything. The campaign starts as a campaign supporting the blockader’s witch-hunt, because it is necessary to blacken everything, destroy Serbia, leave it without investors, and everything else so that Serbia disappears from the map of successful countries. We lost an exceptional investment. I will personally make sure that all those who participated in causing the damage are held accountable for it,” said Vučić.
He added that today, as a state and as a nation, we are the big losers.
“As soon as there is abuse of official position, it goes to TOK (Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime). Neither Nenadić nor Isailović can be above the law, there is no philosophy there. The damage inflicted on Serbia is huge. We will now have a ruined building,” said Vučić, and once again repeated that there was no corruption in the project, and that he would file criminal charges against everyone who participated.
He also pointed out that the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime would not be competent in that case.
“If I were to file a complaint against the Prosecutor for Organized Crime, TOK would be competent for that. They would write the answer themselves, as they are competent for themselves. The Qadi judges you, the Qadi accuses you. As soon as there is an abuse of official position, it immediately goes to TOK, and they decide on themselves. We will change that very soon. They lied that we would change laws to abolish TOK, we won’t, but those individuals will also be accountable before the law, and not be exempted from the law,” Vučić said and concluded:
“You don’t have anywhere in the world where a prosecutor appears at blockader rallies. I will do my best to hold them accountable. Your obligation is to be serious and responsible. We missed a great opportunity. One part of our political opposition is ready to do everything against their own Serbia.”
