American Mia Kercher, a marketing and copywriting expert who travels the world with her cat and currently lives and works in Serbia, has shared her experience and enthusiasm for our country, which led her to decide to stay.
“I chose Serbia as the country to live in four years ago, instead of popular digital nomad destinations like Thailand or Spain. After traveling through Asia for the previous 11 months and visiting many of the destinations along the way, I can tell you one thing that makes Serbia truly unique, which I didn’t appreciate before I left,” Mia began.
As she added, Serbia is truly unique in this regard.
“In Serbia, you can truly get to know the locals and immerse yourself in real Serbian culture when you live here, even though it’s not a popular destination. But all my friends are Serbs, all my partners have been Serbs. My language skills aren’t the best, but they’re okay—enough to communicate—and that makes the whole experience truly unique.”
Her next adventure, after Asia, is planned as a road trip through Africa by car, accompanied by her cat.
Mia emphasizes that there are differences between, for example, Thailand and Serbia, where she stayed during her travels through Asia. However, she found both experiences valuable—with an emphasis on Serbian culture, people, and customs, which ensure that every tourist and newcomer feels welcome and at home!
