Three people lost their lives yesterday on the Paraćin-Zaječar highway after a head-on collision between an “Audi” and an “Opel,” both of which were completely crushed by the force of the impact.
The accident occurred yesterday in the village of Savinac on the mentioned highway. Sadly, despite all efforts by medical staff, there was no saving the passengers involved in the crash.
“It is suspected that excessive speed was the main cause of the horrific crash, but further investigation will confirm this. The driver (36) of the Audi, registered in Zaječar, was alone in the vehicle, while in the Opel, registered in Požarevac, were a driver (64) and a woman (42) in the passenger seat,” said a source for Kurir, adding:
“We heard that the young man in the Audi was the father of three children and had recently lost his mother. On the other hand, the passengers in the Opel were reportedly returning from a funeral. Tragically, the woman who died also leaves behind three children, who are now waiting for their mother to return.”
According to the source, the crash was so severe that firefighters had to cut through the wreckage to reach the passengers.
“The scene of the accident was horrifying. The red Audi was crushed up to half of its front section. It was a nightmare. On the other side, the gray Opel was also completely destroyed in the front. The firefighters carefully did their job, but unfortunately, when they pulled the passengers out of the wrecked vehicles, the paramedics who arrived immediately after being called could only confirm the deaths of the three passengers,” said the source, describing the road where the crash occurred.

“The road is very dangerous in this section because it has many curves, and people often try to straighten out some of the bends. Sadly, due to high speeds, they cannot react in time, leading to such accidents. Collisions frequently happen on this part of the road. Just a few days ago, there was another crash, but fortunately, no one was seriously injured.”
An investigation is underway to determine all the details of this fatal accident. The vehicles have been sent for a special technical inspection, and the bodies of the deceased have been transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, where autopsies will determine the cause of death.
