A neighbour from the building where a bloodbath occurred on Tuesday evening when, as is suspected, a Serb N. M. (44) killed his wife Z. M. (44) and wounded his daughter K. M. (24) and her friend, saved a three-year-old boy from the apartment. He first helped the child, and then directed the emergency services to the right location.
According to “Heute”, on Tuesday evening around 7:30 p.m., the Serb allegedly shot his wife, and then wounded his daughter and her friend. His daughter is still fighting for her life in the hospital and her condition is very critical.
After the horrific violence in the apartment, a showdown followed with the arriving police officers on the street. The suspect fled in his silver Mercedes and was found dead in the vehicle only a few meters from the crime scene. A possible motive for the incomprehensible act of violence could have been the couple’s impending divorce.
A family neighbour described the dramatic moments of that evening for Heute. Oliver (33) had just returned from shopping when he heard “banging”. At first he didn’t attach importance to it, but when he heard the man’s calls for help, Oliver immediately raised the alarm.
He says he saw a lot of blood in the Serbian family’s apartment.
“I have never experienced anything like this and never thought I would. My first goal was to get a 3 or 4-year-old boy who was sitting on the couch out of the apartment,” the Viennese man said, adding that two women were lying on the floor in pools of blood.
The family’s frightened dog was still whining on the stairs; together with the dog, Oliver took the boy to a neighbour. After that, he took the heavily armed police officers who were waiting in front of the door to the staircase, remaining calm in this difficult situation.
But the heroic effort left a mark.
“I couldn’t sleep all night, I’m still shaking. You don’t think about it, you come back from shopping and suddenly you’re standing in such a bloodbath,” he described.
The horrific act of violence was allegedly preceded by a fierce argument between the 44-year-old man and his wife. According to the media, the trigger was the couple’s impending divorce.
