Novak Djokovic, the greatest tennis player of all time, begins his participation in the Athens tournament on Tuesday, and before the match, the Serb gave an interview revealing why he moved to Greece.
The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic will play his first match at the ATP tournament in Athens against Chilean Alejandro Tabilo on Tuesday at 5 PM, which will be the third meeting between the Serb and the Chilean. Tabilo won both previous matches, in Rome in 2024 and Monte Carlo in 2025.
Immediately before this encounter, he gave a comprehensive interview to CNN Greece in which he spoke about the reasons for his decision to live in Greece.
– There are many historical, religious, social, and cultural ties between Greece and Serbia that are a big reason why I am here. Also, the weather and the food are incredible, and the coast is one of the most beautiful. I like the lifestyle and I really feel that the Greek and Serbian people are like brothers. That is the biggest reason, stated Novak Djokovic, then added:
– We as a family are trying to see how life flows here. The experience… We have been here for just under two months, but so far it has been a very positive experience.
Novak Djokovic Plays the ATP Finals
The Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic will compete at the ATP Finals in Turin.
At least, this is what the President of the Italian Tennis Federation, Angelo Binaghi, claims, who revealed in a TV show that Djokovic intends to play in Piedmont.
“We have confirmation that Djokovic will play in Turin. Musetti deserves to be among the top eight, and he already deserved it in 2024,” said Binaghi, whose words were reported by “Gazzetta dello Sport” and many other foreign media outlets.
Novak had previously secured a place among the top eight, thus qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin, but has not yet officially confirmed his participation.
If he does not withdraw, as he did last season, it will be Djokovic’s 16th appearance at the Final Tournament, where he holds the record with seven titles.
