From February 13 to 15, in the courtyard of the Church of Saint Simeon Mirotočivi in Las Vegas, another Mini Srbijada 2026 was held – an event that showed the heart of the diaspora beats strong, loud, and in unison, regardless of the miles separating them from the homeland.

Las Vegas, the city of lights and spectacle, that weekend transformed into a city of the tricolor, embraces, and memorable football clashes.

24 TEAMS, ONE SOUL

This year, the Mini Srbijada featured 24 teams from all over America – from Chicago, Miami, Portland, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Oklahoma, Nebraska… A special surprise was the team from Boise, Idaho.

“This year there were 24 teams. A team from Boise, Idaho, also came. A pleasant surprise since we didn’t know there were Serbs there. FK Sacramento also debuted. Their participation shows how Mini Srbijada is expanding and how our community is growing,” organizers highlighted.

And that is the essence – every year reveals another spot on the American map where the Serbian heart keeps tradition alive.

The tournament in the Open category was won by the Buffaloes from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, who defeated the Crvenka team from Miami in the grand final.

“As every year, the competition was extremely strong. In the Open division final, the teams from Miami and Bartlesville played,” the organizers said.

The Buffaloes also dominated the Over 30 category, while the Over 50 category was won by Slavia from Phoenix, Arizona.

The atmosphere on the field and in the courtyard was broadcast by Puls Radio, allowing the voice of Mini Srbijada to be heard across the diaspora, bringing fan energy and emotions directly to those unable to attend.

THE AROMA OF ROAST, GOULASH, AND PANCAKES – AN ORGANIZATION TO REMEMBER

Mini Srbijada is more than football. It’s the crackle of barbecue, lamb cooked under sač, goulash simmering for hours, pancakes disappearing at the speed of light, and appetizers reminiscent of a traditional slava table.

Organizers admit it wasn’t easy: “Honestly, organizing it was challenging, as it is every year. The board worked hard to provide everything needed so participants could enjoy food and drinks. Probably the hardest part was gathering and organizing all the people who selflessly helped with meal preparation. I must also mention the women who helped in the kitchen. Without them, we couldn’t have imagined this event.”

And that image – men at the grill, women in the kitchen, children running with flags – speaks louder than a thousand words.

“THIS CONNECTS US” – AN EMOTION THAT CANNOT BE BOUGHT

Asked about the importance of Mini Srbijada for the Serbian community in America, the organizers gave a sincere and emotional answer:

“This is extremely important for connecting the Serbian community in America. Personally, it’s wonderful to see dear faces every year, especially when we don’t have the chance to see them often. I can’t wait to attend the big Srbijada wherever it is held or our Mini Srbijadas on the West Coast.”

Indeed – Mini Srbijada is much more than a tournament. It’s a place where friendships are renewed, children learn about their identity, and, at least for three days, America transforms into a little Serbia.

“The impressions of participants and spectators this year were extremely positive, and the majority have already announced they will return next year,” the organizers said.

The event’s significance and symbolism are heightened by the fact that Mini Srbijada takes place in the courtyard of the Church of Saint Simeon Mirotočivi, which for years has served not only as a religious center but also as a social gathering hub for the Serbian community on the West Coast.

Right there, between the altar and the football field, distances disappear, friendships are renewed, and a sense of belonging to the people and tradition is strengthened.
