The Government of Serbia has granted citizenship to five members of the family of Alon Ohel, who was recently released after two years spent in Hamas captivity.
The decision on granting citizenship was made at the last government session, and the decision was published in the Official Gazette.
According to this decision, Serbian citizenship was granted to his biological brothers – Ronen and Inbar Ohel, then his grandmother Talma Rozen, his aunt Noga Gur Arije, and her son Amit Gur Arije, reports Nedeljnik.
Alon Ohel (24) is a young Israeli and Serbian citizen who was abducted on October 7, 2023, during the Hamas attack on the Nova music festival.
He is one of the hundreds of civilians abducted by Hamas during the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, when about 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 were taken to the Gaza Strip. After more than two years of captivity, Alon was finally released as part of a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, which provided for the release of all remaining hostages and the exchange of prisoners.
