The Government of Serbia has adopted a Decision declaring today, November 1, a Day of Mourning to mark the anniversary of the deaths and suffering of citizens caused by the collapse of the structure of the Railway Station in Novi Sad, reports Tanjug.
“The Law on the Observance of Days of Mourning in the Territory of the Republic of Serbia regulates the conditions and manner of observing days of mourning on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, the obligations of state bodies and organizations, bodies of territorial autonomy and local self-government, public institutions and public enterprises they establish, organizations entrusted by law with the performance of state administration tasks or administrative powers, the obligations of other legal and natural persons, as well as sanctions for non-compliance with the established obligations regarding the observance of days of mourning,” the Government’s Decision states.
As announced by the Government, the Day of Mourning begins at midnight on the day designated as the Day of Mourning and ends at 24:00 hours on the day designated as the final day of mourning. In the collapse of the canopy on November 1, 2024, during the accident at the Railway Station in Novi Sad, 16 people lost their lives.
