Despite the perception that in the era of modern technology and online editions, printed books are losing popularity, positive data from the Čačak library “Vladislav Petković – Dis” shows that the people of Čačak love to read.

When it comes to the Čačak City Library “Vladislav Petković – Dis,” there are 200,000 titles of domestic, foreign, and children’s literature available.

“Our collection has over 200,000 books distributed across various departments, including adult, children’s, scientific, and others. At the end of the year, everyone is curious and asks what was read in the outgoing year. When it comes to domestic literature for adults, Miodrag Majić is very popular with all his titles, but there are also Jelena Bačić Alimpić, Vuk Drašković, and Ivo Andrić,” Marijana Lazić, acting director of the City Library “Vladislav Petković – Dis,” told RINA.

As for foreign writers, the most read books are by Lucinda Riley, whose writing style reflects what is close to the female soul.

“The Seven Sisters is a series that Lucinda Riley published and is very popular, as are her other titles. She is a young writer who unfortunately passed away in 2021, but she left behind many great books that our female readers especially enjoy,” said Lazić.

She emphasized that domestic authors are the most read and accessible in the children’s department.
