The Serb member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović stated that turning a blind eye to the root of the problem does nothing to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In response to SRNA’s request for comment on the EU’s statement calling on the political leadership of the Republic of Srpska to exercise restraint and abandon, as they put it, provocative rhetoric and divisive actions, Cvijanović pointed out that the statement notably fails to condemn the reckless venture Christian Schmidt has dragged Bosnia and Herzegovina into. It is Schmidt’s unconstitutional and unlawful imposition of amendments to legislation — not the decisions adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska — that triggered the crisis in the first place.
‘It is the height of hypocrisy to ignore the root of the problem and the undeniable fact that Schmidt abused both the Constitution and the judicial system in his bid to remove a democratically elected leader’, Cvijanović underscored.
