Miloš M. (39), suspected of the double murder of his grandparents in Despotovac, was found and arrested around nine o’clock in Smederevska Palanka, Telegraf.rs has learned.
As confirmed for Telegraf, he will be handed over to the Jagodina police for further proceedings. The police located the suspect and he surrendered.
He had been wanted by the police since yesterday morning.
To recall, as people from the village of Bogava recount, where the bodies of the elderly couple R. Ž. and Ž. M. were found in their family home, one of their daughters had tried to reach them by phone, calling both mobile and landline, but they did not answer. Because of this, she sent her husband to check on them and see what was happening, as her parents lived in a neighboring village.
When the man could not enter the house and there was no response from inside, and he also noticed that there was no car in the yard, he called the police.
“He was with a neighbor, who said that M. M. had stabbed them with a knife and then slaughtered them. They say the sight was horrific,” added the neighbors.
An autopsy of the bodies has been ordered.
A Telegraf reporter was yesterday in the village of Duboka, where Miloš M. lived.
“M. M. was engaged in cattle trading, he worked well, people knew him, but lately he had not been around. I bought a field from him cheaply last year. He started selling everything off, we suspect gambling is involved and that maybe because of that he argued with his grandparents and had family problems. We don’t believe it was drugs, he was not into that,” one resident of Duboka told Telegraf.rs.
It is also mentioned in the villages that the suspect for the murder, M. M., took sheep from his grandfather to sell them, but did not give him the money, which led to the conflict.
