Novi Sad students have announced that tomorrow’s civil disobedience actions are being postponed due to the severe fire situation in southern Serbia.
Although calls for rallies and civil disobedience actions on July 9 had been published on official student blockade accounts in recent days, numerous faculties today called for a postponement due to the emergency fire situation.

Prioritizing Aid for Fire Victims
“We wish to inform you that, due to the extremely difficult fire situation in southern Serbia, the initially planned action for tomorrow is postponed. We believe that the priority now is to help our endangered compatriots, whose homes and hard-earned property have been and are still being engulfed by fire,” stated Novi Sad students, adding that they would soon announce ways to assist fire victims.
Niš students have also decided to temporarily suspend all protest activities and blockades, given the severe fire situation that has caused immense damage and endangered numerous lives and households.

Call for Responsible Behavior and Donations
Students from Niš have urged all citizens to act responsibly, not to start open fires, and not to discard cigarette butts, as even the slightest carelessness can have unforeseen consequences.
“Furthermore, we again call on all who are able to join in collecting aid for affected families. Water, canned food, hygiene products, clothing, and anything that can help those left without a roof over their heads are needed. We are located at two locations: in front of the parking lot near TC Delta Planet and in front of Maxi on Somborski Boulevard. We remind you that donations can also be left at the Faculty of Philosophy every day from 10:00 AM to midnight,” stated Niš students.
Fires have been raging in Serbia for days, and according to the latest information, 14 people were injured yesterday while fighting the blazes. The situation is most critical in western and southern Serbia, and a state of emergency has been declared in several areas.
