Snezana Calic, a talented chef of Serbian origin born in Croatia, who spent her childhood in Serbia, swept the hosts of the morning show Sunrise in Australia off their feet with – a bun.

The hosts commented live on the show how Snezana managed to bring the flavors of the Balkans to the Australian kitchen, and her lepinja became an instant hit among viewers! That is why she showed how to make a lepinja from scratch.

“It’s called lepinja. It has existed for hundreds of years, and the recipe changes from region to region, but it’s really simple to make. The dough is very simple. It’s amazing what a little flour, salt, and water can do! I’m a big fan of all kinds of dough. We have plain flour, bread flour, and any flour will do. You can’t go wrong here. And honestly, just a little yeast, a little salt, a little oil,” Snezana said while the hosts followed carefully.

The host asked how the lepinja is eaten.

“You can add whatever you want, but traditionally it is eaten with cevapi and lots of onions,” said Snezana, who also prepared the cevapi.

“I’m worried, I’m going out with my wife tonight. There are a lot of onions,” the host replied, while the female host expressed a desire to try the ajvar.

“This is a roasted pepper sauce, it’s beautiful!” said the host.
