In a powerful display of solidarity and compassion, students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering have once again proven the strength of community. At a charity bazaar held in front of their faculty building, students raised an impressive 1.8 million dinars through the sale of badges, tote bags, t-shirts, and handmade crafts—with an additional contribution from the student protest fund, bringing the total donation to 2 million dinars.
The entire amount was directed to causes close to the students’ hearts. A donation of 1.8 million dinars was given to Vasilije Stančić, a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering who is battling a serious illness.
Another portion of the funds, collected through symbolic photo ops with handmade signs, was used to support the “Zvečanska” Center for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth. Students had previously reached out to inquire about the specific needs of children in the institution’s care and provided food and hygiene products worth 200,000 dinars.
The donation was officially delivered on Monday, April 21, and representatives from the Zvečanska Center expressed their gratitude for the visit, collaboration, and assistance that will help ease the daily lives of the children.
“We thank Zvečanska for their partnership and warm welcome, as well as all donors and visitors of the bazaar who helped support a fellow student in his fight for life, and made growing up just a little easier for the children in care,” the students wrote in a heartfelt message.
