Saint Sava Academy from Chicago, the first Serbian Elementary School in America, finally got its home! An agreement was officially signed on the purchase of the Lutheran Church and St. Paul’s School near the Cathedral Church of the Holy Resurrection, where the center of the school was until now.
“The contract was signed on January 27, on the feast of Saint Sava, which represents a historic step for our Academy.” The proximity of our Cathedral is a blessing, and it is fitting that this milestone coincides with our celebration of Saint Sava, whose legacy continues to inspire Serbian churches and schools.
This acquisition ensures that Sveti Sava Academy has a permanent, well-equipped home, continuing its mission to provide a solid foundation of faith and knowledge for future generations. The proximity of the new location to our Cathedral is a true blessing, and it is especially fitting that this milestone coincides with our celebration of Saint Sava, whose legacy continues to inspire Serbian Orthodox communities.

NEW BUILDING, SAME VISION: In the future, Serbian children will learn their first letters here
We are deeply grateful to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Rev. Todd Roberts, and their leadership for their cooperation. Special thanks to Father Dragan Arsić, our dedicated teachers, parents, and volunteers, as well as Petar Vezmar and lawyer Miloš Marković, whose efforts contributed to this.
We also want to thank all our donors, supporters, and the wider community from the bottom of our hearts for their generosity and commitment to the Svetosava Academy. Your prayers, contributions, and encouragement have made this dream a reality, and we are truly grateful for your unwavering support.
Sveti Sava Academy currently serves over 170 students, and this new property will allow us to expand and continue our important work. We humbly ask for your continued prayers and support as we work to bring this vision to life.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity – let’s work together to make it a reality!
