The United States plans to expand the number of countries covered by the travel ban to more than 30, said U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.
“I will not be precise about the exact number, but it is higher than 30, and the president continues to assess the countries,” Noem said in an interview with Fox News, responding to a question on whether the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump plans to increase the number of countries covered by the ban to 32.
Noem did not specify which countries will be added to the list.
“If they don’t have a stable government, if they don’t have a country that can sustain itself and tell us who these individuals are and help us vet them, why would we allow people from that country to come here to the United States,” she said.

Trump signed a proclamation in June banning citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States and restricting entry for citizens of seven other countries, saying it was necessary for protection against foreign terrorists and other security threats.
The bans apply both to immigrants and non-immigrants, such as tourists, students, and business travelers.
