Members of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP), acting on the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, launched an operation this morning to search the home and arrest Andrej Premović, a student at the Faculty of Computer Science (RAF) from Raška, on suspicion of creating the “ocisti.net” platform, which published lists of Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) bots. According to Razglas, police seized Premović’s computers and electronic devices but did not take him into custody.
In response to the arrests and pressure on university students ahead of the elections, students from Raška issued a statement, which we reproduce in full:
“Members of the UKP, acting on the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, launched an operation this morning to arrest RAF student Andrej Premović from Raška, on suspicion of creating the ‘ocisti.net’ platform.
Andrej is Raška’s golden boy, a gold medalist at the International Cybersecurity Olympiad in Singapore, a recipient of recognition from the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts for his academic achievements, the valedictorian of Raška Grammar School, the greatest pride of our town and, above all, our friend.
The arrests and intimidation of students ahead of the elections continue. But remember one thing: you can try to arrest students, but you cannot arrest freedom. You can try to instill fear, but you will never break a generation that has decided to fight for its future.
You will not intimidate us.
You will not silence us.
You will not make us give up.”
According to Razglas, police seized Premović’s computers and electronic devices but did not take him into custody.
The inspectors’ departure was accompanied by whistles from gathered residents of Raška, who protested against the operation targeting one of Serbia’s top students for harassment.
