In the Viennese district of Döbling, stickers “Serbian family tree” appeared on a children’s playground, with a picture of a tree and people hanging, reports the Kosovo online correspondent from Vienna.
The representative of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) in the Viennese parliament, Ilija Tufegdžić, demanded the immediate removal of these, as he noted, disturbing and dehumanizing stickers.
“It is absolutely unacceptable that deeply disturbing and dehumanizing stickers are located on children’s playgrounds in the Viennese district of Döbling. The sticker showing a hanged Serbian family with the inscription ‘Serbian family tree’ is especially shocking. There is no place for such disgusting symbols in Vienna, and especially not on playgrounds where our children should play and grow up carefree,” Tufegdžić pointed out in the FPO statement.
He emphasizes that such displays not only seriously offend the feelings of families of Serbian origin, but are also contrary to the fundamental values of peaceful coexistence in Vienna.
“Public spaces must never be poisoned with misanthropic ideologies. This is especially reprehensible on playgrounds, which should be places of carefree and joy,” added Tufegdžić.
He called for immediate action by the competent authorities.
“The City of Vienna must urgently ensure that these and similar stickers are completely removed. Furthermore, it is necessary that those responsible for such actions are identified and held accountable. Our children and families have the right to a safe and respectful environment,” Tufegdžić pointed out regarding the frequent appearance of Ustasha slogans in Vienna.
