Following the assassination of the supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran has announced historic retaliation against the United States and Israel, and their allies in the region.
Israel and the U.S. launched powerful strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran early yesterday morning. Tehran responded with a counterattack on key American military targets in the region and an attack on Israel. Iranian state television reported in the evening that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead.
The Iranian supreme leader was killed yesterday in an Israeli-American attack on Iran, as the region descends into chaos and Tehran retaliates with missile strikes on Israel and Persian Gulf countries. Targets were struck in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Tourist destinations – Dubai and Abu Dhabi – came under attack by Iranian drones and missiles. Iranian state media also confirmed the death of the commander of the ground forces, as well as a key adviser to the supreme leader.
The Revolutionary Guard announced that it is launching the “most destructive operation in history.” The death toll in the attack on a girls’ school in the southern Iranian city of Minab has risen to 118.
Donald Trump told Iran that “you better not do that, we will respond with unprecedented force.” The news of Khamenei’s death sparked both celebration and tears among members of the Iranian opposition and protesters in the streets of Tehran and around the world, while his supporters mourn and promise revenge.
