Artificial intelligence can be a useful tool for learning, but don’t use it to do your homework, Pope Leo told about 15,000 young people from the United States on Friday.

In a live video broadcast from the Vatican to the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, Pope Leo said that artificial intelligence “is becoming one of the key features of our time,” Reuters reports.

“Responsible use of artificial intelligence means using it in a way that helps you grow. Don’t ask it to do your homework,” the pope said.

Don’t let artificial intelligence do your homework, Pope Leo tells young people in the U.S.

Leo, the first pope from the U.S., spoke for about 40 minutes with the youth in the first event of its kind during the first six months of his pontificate, answering questions about the Catholic faith and giving advice on how to make friends at school.

The pope, who has intensified his criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump’s anti-immigration policies, also briefly spoke about politics.

He said that Jesus wants Christians to be “people who build bridges instead of walls,” invoking one of the sharpest criticisms that the late Pope Francis directed at Trump.

“Please, be careful not to use political categories when you speak about faith, when you speak about the Church. The Church does not belong to any political party. On the contrary, it helps shape your conscience… so that you may think and act with wisdom and love,” he said.
