Students in blockade announced for today at 10 am a gathering in support of those “who are on the front lines of defense of our country” at the roundabout near the municipality of Novi Beograd, an hour before the start of the military parade that will be held near the Palace of Serbia.
As the students in blockade announced on Instagram, the gathering will be peaceful, insulting members of the army is forbidden, citizens should come without whistles and megaphones and with national flags (without the coat of arms), the portal N1 reported.
“You wanted to appropriate the flag for political purposes, we returned it to the people. You wanted to appropriate the anthem for political purposes – we returned it to the people. You wanted to appropriate the army for political purposes, we will return it to the people. The army is not private and personal, the army is of the people,” the students in blockade said.
Today, September 20, a military parade is being held in Belgrade, which the government is organizing as part of events dedicated to the Days of Serbian Unity and the flag, starting at 11:00 a.m. on the plateau in front of the Palace of Serbia. The “Strength of Unity” parade will have 10,000 participants, and will display about 2,500 pieces of weaponry and military equipment, more than 600 vehicles, 70 aircraft and 20 vessels.
Visitors will be able to enter as early as 8:30 a.m., at two locations, near the roundabout near the “Ušće” Shopping Center towards Branko’s Bridge and at the intersection of Trešnjinog cveta street and Bulevar Nikole Tesle, from the direction of Novi Beograd.
