Serbia’s Ambassador to Washington, Dragan Šutanovac, took the opportunity to invite President Donald Trump to visit Belgrade and emphasized that the two countries have the potential to strengthen cooperation in energy, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, defense, and many other areas.

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States officially assumed his duties by presenting his credentials to US President Donald Trump on Friday. On that occasion, in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, discussions were held about the relations between the two countries and opportunities for strengthening cooperation.

“In the White House, I presented my letters of credence to President Donald Trump, officially assuming the duty of Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States of America. In a friendly and constructive atmosphere, we discussed the relations between Serbia and the USA. I reminded President Trump that no American president has visited Serbia since 1980 — and invited him to be the first to change that,” the ambassador stated in a social media post.

As he added, the message of the conversation was clear: “Let’s make the Serbian-American strategic partnership great again!”

The post included hashtags: #SerbiaUSA #Diplomacy #Let’sMakeItGreatAgain.

The ambassador emphasized that Serbia and the USA are considering cooperation in several strategically important directions — in the fields of energy, artificial intelligence, infrastructure projects, and defense. These sectors represent potential for concrete investments, knowledge exchange, and technological progress, as well as for further connecting institutions and companies from both countries.

The last US president to visit Belgrade was Jimmy Carter in 1980, which opens this initiative as an opportunity to renew high-level political visits after more than four decades.
