A state of emergency has been declared in the Banja Luka area due to landslides and rockslides caused by heavy rainfall in the past few days, said today the head of the Banja Luka Civil Protection Department, Dragan Babić.

Babić says that there has been a massive occurrence of landslides in the city area, with the Bronzani Majdan settlement being the most affected, and that all available teams were on duty in the field 24 hours a day.

-A commission of ten teams has been formed, which will be on the ground in all local communities from today and record the damage caused – said Babić.

He said that more than 130 reports of landslides and rockslides had been received.

Babić, as reported by Srna, said that there is no danger of the Vrbas river overflowing, while the Vrbanja level is slightly above the regular flood defense level.
