On Epiphany, yesterday in Karin Gornji, on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, the traditional swimming for the Holy Cross was held, organized for the first time in Dalmatia after a seven-decade break. This wonderful event, jointly organized by the Parish of Ravni Kotari and the local community of Karin, brought together brave participants and enthusiastic spectators.
Swimming for the Holy Cross has recently become more popular among the Serbian people, which can be characterized as a greater devotion to faith and a show of patriotism. Thus, almost everywhere where the Serbian people live in the Balkans and in the diaspora, people have been swimming for the Holy Cross. They swam in France in Nice, near Paris, and in eastern France – the town of Bonneville.

However, the most important event that will be particularly remembered in 2025 is the one coming from Dalmatia. A total of 32 swimmers, including three women, jumped into the cold waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Everyone swam with great faith and determination, but seventeen-year-old David Širko from Knin was the first to reach the Holy Cross. Young David swam shoulder to shoulder with his brother in the final, which added even more emotion to this solemn moment.

Among the swimmers were boys from Knin, Obrovac, Kistanje, as well as hosts from Ravni Kotari and Karin, while a large number of locals and visitors followed the entire event. Over a hundred Orthodox believers gathered on the shore to cheer on the participants, creating an atmosphere of community and unity.
The organizers expressed great satisfaction that this tradition is being revived in Dalmatia, with the hope that it will become a regular part of the Epiphany celebrations in this region.

Swimming for the Holy Cross, a symbol of Christian faith and courage, once again demonstrated the strength of unity and love for tradition.
