Crvena zvezda’s basketball team recorded another victory — a very significant one in the EuroLeague — as they triumphed over Virtus Bologna on the road with a 102:93 win. With this result, the Red-and-Whites completed a double round with two wins, having previously defeated Monaco.

This is a huge win for Zvezda, especially since Virtus is a team very close to them in the standings, making the battle for playoff spots, and potentially the playoffs themselves, extremely competitive.

Before traveling to Monaco and then Bologna, it was clear that these two games would be crucial, as they could either push Zvezda closer to the playoffs or threaten their position in the competition.

The entire Zvezda team clearly understood this, playing one of their best games since the start of the season. They had a few miscommunications at the very beginning of the match but quickly settled down and secured the win.

The team also seemed to have learned from the Monaco game that there can be no lapses in focus during such matches. The whole squad was on a high level of performance from the start.

Simply put, everything clicked in Bologna — Zvezda played as they should and added another win to their record with another very solid performance. It seems that coach Saša Obradović has finally gotten through to his players, explaining clearly how the team functions. For the first time in a long while, Zvezda showed that they have both “head and tail,” and that everything is well-coordinated.

That said, Zvezda did experience some fluctuations in the first half, conceding 52 points while scoring 57, but they crushed their opponents in the third quarter. They outscored Virtus 25:16 in that period, with Jared Butler “taking over,” building a substantial lead going into the final 10 minutes, where they simply maintained control.

With this win, Zvezda recorded their 14th triumph in this competition.

The team’s top performer was Jared Butler with 16 points, Jordan Nwora added 15, Chima Moneke and Nikola Kalinić scored 13 each, Ebuka Izundu had 12, and Cody Miller-McIntyre contributed 10 points along with 12 assists. For Virtus, Dyshawn Pierre led with 21 points, Olston added 18, Edwards 16, and Morgan 14.
