Crvena zvezda’s basketball team was defeated by Barcelona in Round 14 of the EuroLeague with a score of 89:79.
Belgrade Arena was the stage for true basketball drama this Friday in Round 14 of the EuroLeague, where Crvena zvezda and Barcelona clashed in a fierce battle. The Red-Whites, led by coach Saša Obradović, aimed to continue their excellent streak and secure second place in the standings, while Barcelona—despite inconsistency—has traditionally been a difficult opponent in Belgrade.
At the start of the game, both teams showed nervousness, with inaccurate shooting in the opening minutes. Cody Miller-McIntyre brought Zvezda its first points, while Vesely answered precisely for the visitors. Zvezda missed multiple early attempts, allowing Barcelona to build a comfortable 4:13 lead, and a three-pointer by Toko Shengelia widened the gap further. New Red-White attacks went unused, forcing Obradović to call the first timeout.

In the remainder of the first quarter, the fight for every point was intense. Dobrić attempted from distance, Cody scored from the free-throw line, and Nwora finished plays precisely in the paint. Zvezda managed to regain rhythm thanks to a much better defensive effort. Thus, the first quarter ended with Zvezda trailing but still within reach of tying the game, as they recovered from a poor start to close at 17:21.
The second quarter continued Zvezda’s 17:6 run, leading to a tie. Butler assisted Nwora for a dunk, while on the other side Clyburn caused trouble for the Red-Whites with a series of points. However, Barcelona did not fully capitalize on his strong play, as Zvezda kept coming back on multiple occasions. At halftime, Barcelona led 39:46, with Zvezda once again showing fighting spirit and the desire to get back into the match—and succeeding in that.
After 39:46 at halftime, the third quarter opened with Vesely’s dunks. Barcelona went up by 10, and then Cody Miller-McIntyre found his rhythm, using a series of good plays and points to try to keep Zvezda in pace. However, in the fourth minute of the third quarter, bad news struck the home team—Ognjen Dobrić suffered an injury.

Even so, Ojeleye and Kalinić scored to bring Zvezda level at 55:55. Barcelona then responded with a burst from Brizuela, restoring a +6 lead, while Zvezda missed several chances in the final moments of the third quarter to turn the game around.
Until the end, Zvezda had several opportunities to take the lead. However, at 63:62, Brizuela hit a three-pointer, and from that moment Barcelona began to play much better.
With five minutes remaining, they pulled away to 80:67, and Zvezda was unable to come back and overturn the match.
Thus, Barcelona handed Zvezda a defeat that also ends their streak of 7 consecutive home victories.
