Lawyer Ivan Nini\u0107 has filed a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office for Organized Crime against Davor Macura, chairman of Alta Bank\u2019s Board of Directors, nine other members of its management, as well as unidentified officials responsible within the National Bank of Serbia (NBS). The complaint alleges that, following the parliamentary elections, an accelerated transfer of money to the accounts of affiliated legal entities in Moscow and Skopje was initiated, which, according to Nini\u0107, jeopardized the bank\u2019s liquidity and the security of deposits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a document reviewed by Nova.rs, the disputed transactions allegedly began on October 26, 2026, immediately after the elections in Serbia. Nini\u0107 claims that Alta Bank executives, in violation of legal regulations and internal rules, enabled intensive transfers of funds to Russia and North Macedonia, where the bank or entities affiliated with it have business interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to Macura, the criminal complaint names Board of Directors members Aleksandar \u017divanovi\u0107, Neboj\u0161a Stojanovi\u0107, Vladimir Miladinovi\u0107 and Kristijan Risti\u0107, as well as Executive Board Chairwoman Una Sikimi\u0107 and members Nikola Krd\u017ei\u0107, Tatjana Kuljak, \u017deljko Dev\u010di\u0107 and Bojan Pantovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The complaint states that on October 27, Nini\u0107 submitted a formal complaint to the National Bank of Serbia, demanding an urgent extraordinary inspection of Alta Bank\u2019s operations. He claims that he obtained information about the disputed transactions from sources within the Administration for the Prevention of Money Laundering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, instead of launching an urgent inspection, the NBS publicly dismissed the allegations as unverified claims that caused unjustified concern as early as October 28, explaining that the transfers were being conducted through regular payment channels and in accordance with regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nini\u0107 believes that the central bank\u2019s competent authorities could not have conducted a comprehensive investigation in such a short period of time and that their failure to exercise oversight allowed the continuation of suspicious transfers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to his claims, such conduct endangered the deposits of citizens and the public sector, as well as the stability of Serbia\u2019s financial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Davor Macura was arrested on November 2, following searches of Alta Bank and the premises he used. At the request of the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office for Organized Crime, he was placed in custody for up to 48 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prosecutor\u2019s Office announced that Macura is suspected of removing money from the bank\u2019s vault and thereby obtaining unlawful financial gain amounting to approximately 45 billion dinars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alta Bank had previously had its operating license revoked, and bankruptcy proceedings were initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nini\u0107 requested that the Prosecutor\u2019s Office act urgently and collect financial documentation, international money transfer orders and SWIFT messages dating from October 26 onward. He also proposed measures to prevent the suspects from fleeing or influencing witnesses, including detention and the temporary confiscation of their passports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Spahovi\u0107 law office confirmed that it had taken over Davor Macura\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The allegations contained in Nini\u0107\u2019s criminal complaint remain suspicions that the competent authorities have yet to investigate, while Macura\u2019s arrest does not in itself mean that his criminal responsibility has been established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
