She also added that she has information that the Prosecutor\u2019s Office for Organized Crime (TOK) already had a case opened some time ago involving the bank\u2019s director and owner.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case of <a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/tag\/alta-banka\/\">Alta Bank<\/a> is one example of how everything is happening and collapsing faster than anyone expected, Savovi\u0107 believes, adding that she is very pleased with the rapid developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I have no particular sympathy for that bank. That bank was more or less used to launder this country&#8217;s illegal money, and I don&#8217;t think anyone feels empathy for it. It cannot be treated like any other bank,&#8221; the N1 interviewee said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Savovi\u0107 also revealed that she has information that <a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/tag\/tuzilastvo-za-organizovani-kriminal\/\">TOK<\/a> already had a case opened some time ago involving the bank\u2019s director and owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-serbiantimes-info wp-block-embed-serbiantimes-info\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"xaxJv4xTfL\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/nece-vise-moci-da-prebacuju-prljavi-novac-narodna-banka-srbije-oduzima-dozvolu-za-rad-alta-banci\/\">NE\u0106E VI\u0160E MO\u0106I DA PREBACUJU PRLJAVI NOVAC: Narodna banka Srbije oduzela dozvolu za rad Alta banci!<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201eNE\u0106E VI\u0160E MO\u0106I DA PREBACUJU PRLJAVI NOVAC: Narodna banka Srbije oduzela dozvolu za rad Alta banci!\u201c \u2014 Serbiantimes.info\" src=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/nece-vise-moci-da-prebacuju-prljavi-novac-narodna-banka-srbije-oduzima-dozvolu-za-rad-alta-banci\/embed\/#?secret=2D6eppH7eD#?secret=xaxJv4xTfL\" data-secret=\"xaxJv4xTfL\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;A letter was sent from that prosecutor&#8217;s office to the NBS and the Administration for the Prevention of Money Laundering, and I think all of that has borne fruit,&#8221; the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Changes in the Judiciary Begin with the High Prosecutorial Council<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commenting on indications that employees of public institutions may testify about the destruction of documents, prosecutor Bojana Savovi\u0107 warned that even an attempt to destroy official documentation is a criminal offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There are still honorable people in all these institutions who will inform us, and are informing us, about what is happening. We receive information every day from the security services, the police, and all state authorities. Conscientious, good people report things and document them, which is why I advise everyone else not to take part in unlawful activities and not to commit criminal offenses,&#8221; Savovi\u0107 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking about the Alta Bank case, the work of the prosecution, and the \u201cCanopy\u201d case, she assessed that certain investigations are now moving forward after having been stalled, but that the key to changes in the judiciary lies in changes within the High Prosecutorial Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Were They Not Allowed to, or Did They Not Want to?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Savovi\u0107 says that, for the first time, a Commission of the Supreme Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office has been established and has contacted chief public prosecutors with what she described as almost a list of cases that the public had already known were problematic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She adds that prosecutors in those offices are now in an uncomfortable position because they may be asked two questions: whether prosecutors were not allowed to work on certain cases, or whether they simply did not want to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The more they do now, the more they show what they could have done five days ago but did not. This is problematic because either you are showing that you knew about certain information but did not want to act or were not allowed to. Or you did not know, even though the entire public knew, in which case you are incapable and incompetent to hold that position,&#8221; the N1 interviewee believes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Savovi\u0107 says she expects many cases to now move rapidly forward from the standstill they are currently in, and that some prosecutors have found the courage and confidence to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the other hand, she warns that there will always be prosecutors who seek to ingratiate themselves with every new government that comes to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-serbiantimes-info wp-block-embed-serbiantimes-info\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"MC4mXO0qRW\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/ko-je-davor-macura-vlasnik-alta-banke-kojoj-je-nbs-oduzela-dozvolu-za-rad-povezan-sa-sns-om-ima-siroku-mrezu-poslova-u-srbiji\/\">KO JE DAVOR MACURA, VLASNIK ALTA BANKE KOJOJ JE NBS ODUZELA DOZVOLU ZA RAD? The High Prosecutorial Council, even though this is a clear disciplinary violation, has never taken a single action against Nenad Stefanovi\u0107,&#8221; Savovi\u0107 said, adding that she believes the key to changes in the judiciary lies in changes within the High Prosecutorial Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She points out that prosecutors are now also examining the case involving the break-in at the Rectorate, as well as the case of Milan Radoi\u010di\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Right to Truthful Reporting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bojana Savovi\u0107 previously stated that the domestic prosecution could investigate the transfer of ownership of the company under which N1 operates.
