{"id":220411,"date":"2026-10-24T14:29:01","date_gmt":"2026-10-24T12:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/en\/?p=220411"},"modified":"2026-10-24T14:29:02","modified_gmt":"2026-10-24T12:29:02","slug":"extra-and-missing-ballots-sacks-switched-problems-with-election-materials-in-the-pcinja-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/en\/extra-and-missing-ballots-sacks-switched-problems-with-election-materials-in-the-pcinja-district\/","title":{"rendered":"EXTRA AND MISSING BALLOTS, SACKS SWITCHED: Problems with election materials in the P\u010dinja District!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Sofija Mandi\u0107, a member of the Republic Electoral Commission (REC), pointed out at the Commission\u2019s meeting today that the principle requiring the number of ballot papers to match the number of voters had been called into question in the P\u010dinja District, as excess ballots were found in municipalities that had requested that election materials be counted during the handover.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking under miscellaneous business, Mandi\u0107 said that the chair of one polling station committee in Vranje claimed he had not been informed that he needed to collect the election materials, while his deputy had been notified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said that during the meeting she had spoken with the president of the City Electoral Commission (CEC) in Vranje, who told her that the polling station committee chair had not answered his phone, forcing them to contact his deputy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">REC member \u017deljka Radeta, who is responsible for the P\u010dinja District, said she had spoken with the president of the CEC in Vranje, who confirmed that the chair of one polling station committee had been unreachable throughout the day, so it was agreed that the materials would be handed over to his deputy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to her, the chair and his deputy are neighbors, and when the chair saw that his deputy had brought the materials, he notified the police. Radeta said the police did not draw up an official report and that a request to open the sack was rejected because of the security seal, with the explanation that the materials would be opened on Sunday at 6:00 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said that on Sunday, CEC members and representatives of the authorities and the <a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/tag\/opozicija\/\">opposition<\/a> would come to the polling station, open the sack and check against the inventory to verify whether all the materials were inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-serbiantimes-info wp-block-embed-serbiantimes-info\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"6JeeypmAzp\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/direktor-centra-za-bezbednosnu-politiku-vlast-pokusava-povecanjem-plata-policajaca-da-kupi-lojalnost-pred-izbore\/\">DIREKTOR CENTRA ZA BEZBEDNOSNU POLITIKU: \u201eVlast poku\u0161ava pove\u0107anjem plata policajaca da kupi lojalnost pred izbore!\u201c<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201eDIREKTOR CENTRA ZA BEZBEDNOSNU POLITIKU: \u201eVlast poku\u0161ava pove\u0107anjem plata policajaca da kupi lojalnost pred izbore!\u201c\u201c \u2014 Serbiantimes.info\" src=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/direktor-centra-za-bezbednosnu-politiku-vlast-pokusava-povecanjem-plata-policajaca-da-kupi-lojalnost-pred-izbore\/embed\/#?secret=ucpKmqzkW0#?secret=6JeeypmAzp\" data-secret=\"6JeeypmAzp\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Radeta said that two extra ballot papers had been found in Trgovi\u0161te, while Fadil Aliti, the third member of the group responsible for the P\u010dinja District, told her that 10 ballot papers were missing at one polling station in Bujanovac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aliti pointed out that, in addition to the shortage of 10 ballot papers, there had also been an incident in which two polling station committee chairs collected the wrong sacks and subsequently exchanged them with each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mandi\u0107 said that the meeting had so far established that sacks had been switched twice, in Pre\u0161evo and Bujanovac, while a third incident involved a sack being handed over to a deputy instead of the polling station committee chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">REC member Marko Danilovi\u0107 asked where the plates used to print the election materials were kept, noting that they had previously been brought to the REC and sealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">REC President Vladimir Dimitrijevi\u0107 said this would be checked, but added that he had no doubt everything had been done in accordance with procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">REC member Ivan \u0160ebak said he remembered receiving an invitation to the start of <a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/tag\/glasacki-listic\/\">ballot paper<\/a> printing, but did not recall receiving an invitation to witness the destruction of excess materials and the materials used for printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u0160ebak, who is responsible for Belgrade, said there had been problems in Mladenovac, where one number was initially entered for voters requesting to vote outside their polling stations, before being replaced with another after the director of a gerontology center submitted a list of 99 people wishing to vote. The complaint concerned numerous campaign materials belonging to election participants in the courtyards of schools where polling stations will be located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As stated at the meeting, the complainant alleged that political symbols, including murals, graffiti and stickers belonging to political organizations, were present in the courtyards of schools serving as polling stations\u2014particularly the Third and Fourteenth Belgrade Grammar Schools\u2014as well as in their immediate surroundings.
