A mysterious player from the U.S. state of Illinois won an incredible $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot, spending just two dollars on the winning combination.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lucky winner, whose identity<\/a> has not been disclosed, came forward to claim the prize a little more than a month after the winning numbers were drawn, the Illinois Lottery announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is particularly interesting is that the winner did not purchase a large number of combinations in an attempt to increase his chances. According to U.S. media reports, he purchased just one combination of numbers, meaning a ticket costing only two dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The $1.04 billion jackpot is the second-largest lottery prize in Illinois history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner chose to remain anonymous, which is permitted under the rules in that state, so the public does not yet know who became one of the biggest lottery winners in the state\u2019s history overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Powerball is one of the most famous U.S. lotteries, and its jackpots often reach hundreds of millions, and even more than a billion dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
