Hashim Tha\u00e7i\u2019s lawyer Luka Mi\u0161eti\u0107 said that the former president of the provisional institutions in Pristina called on citizens to remain calm after he was sentenced to 25 years in prison in The Hague yesterday for war crimes.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mi\u0161eti\u0107 said on the social media platform X that Tha\u00e7i expressed his gratitude for the support he, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi had received from citizens and the international community, Koha reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hashim Tha\u00e7i wishes to express his sincere appreciation for the outpouring of support he and Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi have received from the people of Kosovo and internationally, and calls upon Kosovo\u2019s citizens to remain peaceful in response to yesterday\u2019s\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague found Tha\u00e7i guilty on September 16 of war crimes, including murder, torture, cruel treatment and arbitrary detention, and sentenced him to 25 years in prison. The verdict is at first instance and can be appealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same case, Kadri Veseli was sentenced to 18 years, Rexhep Selimi to 13 years, and Jakup Krasniqi to 25 years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
