The committee gave a positive opinion and assessed that the proposed amendment to the Statute was in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and the Government\u2019s decision to establish the faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the issue of the institution\u2019s legal status remains disputed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;color:#d21414\" class=\"has-inline-color\">READ MORE: <\/mark><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-serbiantimes-info wp-block-embed-serbiantimes-info\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"KAi1nl0Kzd\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/oglasili-se-zaposleni-n1-o-prekidu-emitovanja-24-minuta-na-nova-tv-kesic-i-njegova-ekipa-su-jedno-od-retkih-svetala-koje-gradjanima-pomaze-da-jasnije-vide-stvarnost-u-kojoj-zive\/\">OGLASILI SE ZAPOSLENI N1 O PREKIDU EMITOVANJA 24 MINUTA NA NOVA TV: &#8222;Kesi\u0107 i njegova ekipa su jedno od retkih svetala koje gra\u0111anima poma\u017ee da jasnije vide stvarnost u kojoj \u017eive!&#8220;<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201eOGLASILI SE ZAPOSLENI N1 O PREKIDU EMITOVANJA 24 MINUTA NA NOVA TV: \u201eKesi\u0107 i njegova ekipa su jedno od retkih svetala koje gra\u0111anima poma\u017ee da jasnije vide stvarnost u kojoj \u017eive!\u201c\u201c \u2014 Serbiantimes.info\" src=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/oglasili-se-zaposleni-n1-o-prekidu-emitovanja-24-minuta-na-nova-tv-kesic-i-njegova-ekipa-su-jedno-od-retkih-svetala-koje-gradjanima-pomaze-da-jasnije-vide-stvarnost-u-kojoj-zive\/embed\/#?secret=itrtaJDCcd#?secret=KAi1nl0Kzd\" data-secret=\"KAi1nl0Kzd\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Administrative Court postpones enforcement of Education Ministry decision<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Faculty of Serbian Studies currently does not have an operating license <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masina.rs\/fakultet-srpskih-studija-privremeno-bez-osnova-za-rad-upravni-sud-odlozio-izvrsenje-resenja-ministarstva-prosvete\/\">after the Administrative Court postponed the enforcement<\/a> of the Education Ministry\u2019s decision revoking the operating licenses for the History, Serbian Studies, and Russian Language and Literature programs at the <a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/tag\/filozofski-fakultet\/\">Faculty of Philosophy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the Education Ministry ordered the University of Ni\u0161 to take steps to implement the Government\u2019s decision to establish the new faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the documentation, the Republic Education Inspectorate requested that the University act in accordance with the Government\u2019s decision and inform the Ministry about the steps it had taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the Senate\u2019s decision, the proposed amendment to the Statute should also be forwarded to the University Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The establishment of the Faculty of Serbian Studies was initiated in the fall of 2025. At the time, the City of Ni\u0161 proposed to the Government of Serbia that a new higher education institution be established by separating three departments from the Faculty of Philosophy \u2013 History, Serbian Studies, and Russian Language and Literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Government adopted the decision to establish the faculty on November 6, 2025, after which it was published in the Official Gazette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In March 2026, the Faculty of Serbian Studies received initial accreditation and an operating license from the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and the Education Ministry. However, following the Ministry\u2019s decision in April and the subsequent decision of the Administrative Court, the institution\u2019s legal status became disputed once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, protests were held at the Faculty of Philosophy, while its Teaching and Scientific Council voted against a compromise with the new faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dispute also affects students<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Changes concerning the three departments have direct consequences for students as well.
