Historian \u010cedomir Anti\u0107 hosted Darko, the son of General Ratko Mladi\u0107, on his authorial podcast \u201cPerspectives,\u201d which airs on K1 television.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this interview, Darko Mladi\u0107 spoke about the intimate and lesser-known side of life in the shadow of his father, General Ratko Mladi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main topics of the conversation was the attitude of the Serbian state, its authorities and political elites toward his father, a JNA general who would later become commander of the Main Staff of the Army of Republika Srpska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guided by Anti\u0107\u2019s questions, the younger Mladi\u0107 complained that the Serbian state, during the government of Boris Tadi\u0107 and after his father\u2019s arrest and extradition, sent as many as 40 lawyers\/attorneys to assist the Hague Tribunal\u2019s Prosecutor\u2019s Office in the proceedings against Ratko Mladi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, many seem to have forgotten that \u010cedomir Anti\u0107, at the time a member of the G17 Plus party, together with his party colleagues, led a fierce campaign in 2006 demanding that the Serbian government, then headed by Vojislav Ko\u0161tunica, begin actively cooperating with the Hague Tribunal and fulfill its most important demand \u2013 the extradition of General Ratko Mladi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G17 Plus demanded that Ko\u0161tunica and his coalition partners immediately extradite Mladi\u0107 and the other indictees because this was also a condition set by the European Union for the continuation of Serbia\u2019s membership negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was precisely for this reason that G17 leader Miroljub Labus resigned as deputy prime minister in May 2006, after which a crisis followed that ended with the fall of Ko\u0161tunica\u2019s government on October 1 of the same year, followed by early parliamentary elections in January 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth noting that in the meantime, sometime in mid-September 2006, \u010cedomir Anti\u0107 resigned from all positions in G17 Plus, but not because he disagreed with the party\u2019s policy, but because Mla\u0111an Dinki\u0107 had not nominated him for deputy party leader several days earlier, a position he had allegedly promised him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, Anti\u0107 founded the politically insignificant Forward Club, and today, 20 years later, the time has come for him to interview the son of the man whom he once so passionately wanted to see arrested and sent to The Hague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Somewhere they would call that hypocrisy, but apparently not in Serbia, where everything is forgotten within 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
